The second week of the Data School was a shortened one due to the bank holiday on and was focused on Tableau Desktop and looking at chart types and calculations to take advantage of the software.
The week started of on Monday where we walked through the best practices for data visualisation. This meant looking at what charts to use to answer different types of questions and figuring out what you want your data to portray.
Tuesday consisted of talking through and building many different chart types including basic ones such as bar and line charts or advanced chart types like bar-in-bar charts and sparklines.
Following on from building charts, Wednesday was focused on learning how groups, sets and calculated fields work on Tableau Desktop.
With the work week ending a day early this week, the project day was moved from Friday to Thursday. The focus of the project was discussed in my previous blog here. With the task being based on our learning from this week in combination with our previous Tableau experience, the project turned out to be quite simple.
Overall, that was a nice second week especially with Easter on the horizon as well. Now onto Week 3!
