What does it take to pass the Alteryx exam?
The Alteryx exam is about timing and practice. Here's a few tips i found useful to help me prep and pass the exam.
Step 1:
To revise I used the tool tip index and the learning path videos with a particular focus on trying the challenges. the links to the learning path is https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Learning-Paths/Getting-Started-Learning-Path/ta-p/475117#done and to the tooltip index: https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Designer-Knowledge-Base/Tool-Mastery-Index/ta-p/84593
Step 2:
Once you complete that I would recommend doing at least 1 weekly challenge on each of the tools that will come up.
Step 3:
Something I found to have helped me is to understand my style of working. I know timing was an issue for me so I choose to start with the practical questions and not to move on until I was certain of them. Find your way of working around the exam but make sure to place importance on the practical questions.
A tip for this would be to save your datasets from the practical question and number them and if possible write a brief description of the question your trying to answer in a comment tool.
Pro Tips:
- Don't stress, if you don't understand a question or its taking too long, flag the question and come back
- Go in with a strategy, find your way of working and plan how long you will take roughly on the different sections
- Don't worry about failing the first time, you can use this to practice for the next time, if you document what you don't understand as you go, you'll create a guide for yourself to practice and hopefully pass the second time around
