The Cross-tab Tool on Alteryx

Cross-tab and transpose are the tools used to pivot tables on Alteryx Designer. Both tools can be found under the transform pane:

The cross-tab tools takes data contained in (single or multiple) columns and convers them in to rows which results in a wider table. When we connect the cross-tab tool to our data, we will need to configure the tool by:

1) Selecting the fields we want to group by. The fields we select with be the ones you want to use for grouping and to become the new row headers.

2) Select a column header. This field will contain the values we want our new column headers to be.

3) Chose the column we want to be the values for our restructured table.

4) We have an optional section to choose the method for aggregating multiple fields. If we chose to concatenate, we will also need to specify the separator which will be added automatically between concatenated fields.

When using the superstore orders sheet, the configure cross tab tool will look as follows:
