Dashboard week day 2 involved analyzing IMDB ratings and only using Tableau Prep to clean the data. The data came in the form of zipped TSV files - which was very new to me. This blog involves the timeline of what I did today from the morning till the presentation
9:00 - 10:00 am
Received the dataset and spent majority of the time trying to figure out how to unzip the TSV files but managed to complete this by using 7 zip.
10:00 - 11:00 am
Had a look through the data and started brain storming some ideas - gained some inspiration from Tableau Public especially. I also drew out a little schema with the tables I need to create my dashboard with the fields I needed.
11:00 - 12:00 pm
Quickly drew up my Excalidraw and started my Tableau Prep workflow but I forgot the save my workflow and accidentally closed it, so I had to start again :)
13:30 - 2:30 pm
Started building my charts out, had some issues with the second chart I wanted to create, the field I needed was being attributed and was showing as a * in the tooltips. I did not know how to fix this so I adjusted my chart since I had little time left.
2:30 - 3:30 pm
Formatting and practicing my presentation.
Overall, I think I did well with planning and narrowing down the scope, I am still unsure as to how to fix my chart and I think my dashboard needed more interactivity. Here is my dashboard on the IMDB ratings of Dragon Ball Z!
