DS29 had our last client project last week, working with SJP. This last project had such a stark difference from the first project, but these differences were mostly positive. Here I will list a few things I've learnt between the first and last client project.
- Presenting is way easier as the weeks go by. The first couple of week were so nerve wrecking whenever I would have to present. However, being nervous isn't always a bad thing because it means you care. The last week was the most relaxed I had been because I was used to it by the eighth time.
- I understand my way of working in a team much better than I did before. I know where my strengths and weaknesses are, so I know when I can ask for help and when I can be of help.
- Approaching projects has been much more organised now than before. Knowing what questions you'll need to ask will become more of an instinct than before, as you begin to realise what the most common issues are in projects. We also gradually got a good idea of how long it takes to do each task, such as scoping.
- Becoming more confident in the work I produce and present to the clients is one of my key takeaways from client projects. In placements I know I'll be able to approach problems with confidence and prove I am as competent as I have grown to be.
These are my key takeaways from the 2 months of client projects. I does get easier and you'll always learn something new, no matter what stage you are in at the data school.
