My Tableau Tutorials series of blogs is going to focus on how to build different chart types in Tableau. If you would like any additional help, or have a chart type you’d like me to blog about contact me via twitter @McVizzies.
Building a Strip Plot
Start by placing a Dimension onto columns, and a measure onto rows (or vise-versa if you would prefer your strip plot horizontal)
Change the mark type to circle.
Then place another dimension onto detail to break up the view. Size to your preference.
Then add some colour and any other formatting you like. I usually add an average line from the analytics pane to the left of the Tableau window. This allows you to compare category by category at a glance as well as comparing within the category or by individual sub categories (in this case).
