How To Take off the 0's from the Rank Axis

Ranking dimensions is a common practice. When using ranks, we tend to have a zero in it. You are 'safe' when you want to hide your axis but what if you must show that axis?  Good news is that these zeros can be taken off in two simple ways.

Example: In this bump chart, the countries have been ranked based on Profits on the sale of cocaine and we observe the zero on the rank axis.

Method 1:

  1. Right click on the axis, format, number format, select number custom, select 0 decimal places.

2. click on custom, put in a semicolon after the last zero and click on your space bar on your keyboard to take off the zero

Method 2:

  1. Drag your ranked measure into the data pane and rename it. Mine is already renamed rank.

2. Click on the calculated field sign by rank and select decimal.

3. Drag this field to replace the two field in the rows shelve which form the dual axis.

4. Now click on the rank axis, select edit axis, and untick include zero.

Your zero is now off and your ranks are visually appealing. I hope this tip helped. Thanks for reading.
