First task – Download a Shapefile with a few Thousand records.
Second task – Download a file with 250 Million records.
Third task – Try to be productive while you wait 2 and a half hours for the Second file to be downloaded.
With the large data file we were told to upload to Exasol, but the smaller Shapefile we could join to in Tableau. From around 12pm to 3.15pm, that time was spent figuring out how to fix a date format issue, and how best to cut down our data so we could actually combine the 2 datasets we had available to us and use them.
