Dashboard Week -Day 5 Sleep Tracker

Today we were tasking with handling sleep data. We had less time today to complete this task so I knew scoping would be the biggest part of my planning. I wanted to show an overview into the averages of the data, and also the option to go into a demographic data to see how they sleep.

Requirements:

  1. Get the data from here
  2. They should sketch out ideas for the data before opening Tableau and have their blog posts wrote by 1pm
  3. The team has complete free reign on what they should do with this data.

Before even bringing the data into tableau we were asked to sketch out or ideas. I knew I wanted to focus on an overall view and I wanted to give an individual subject breakdown. After looking at the data I realised that we actually only have 1 reading per person so I would not be able to go through with this approach. I decided to then let the user decide what demographics they wanted to look at - age group, gender or smokers.. or all of the above.

The biggest challenge today was time. It was also tricky to figure out a main question to answer. I focused on giving and overall view of how people sleep and then using a few charts to answer more specific questions. Overall I am glad I managed to get 2 dashboards together.
