How do Boolean fields types work?
Boolean field types are defined by the output being either a true or false value.
When the field type is defined as Boolean the following sign is beside the field.

To then put this into a visual form the following calculated field field is used. The result will either be true the state selected is identical to the parameter or false they differ.

Once the parameter is created with the following steps a map can be created where upon selecting a value from the parameter it will colour the state corresponding to the parameter.

Now the Map is created!
