Week 1: Alteryx or Tableau Prep?

Starting a new job is always quite scary or might even make you feel uneasy. However, starting a job in a place that is very friendly makes it much easier to come out of your shell. Even though the week isn't over yet, the last few days have flew by.

We have been learning about two programs that would make the data ready to use. In the first two days, we have been exploring Alteryx, its basic tools and their usages. One of the things that I have found interesting is that you have got a big data set and you can change it into different parts to manipulate into giving you what you want to use. You can use one of many preparation tools to sample, filter, cleanse, or even sort your data and even though it was challenging at first, it was satisfying when it all worked at the end.

On Thursday, we were introduced to Tableau Prep which is quite similar to Alteryx. In the morning, we were going through the basics and the tools and in the afternoon, we stuck in into some challenges. One of the main differences that I have noticed is that when working with a data set in Tableau Prep, it often guides you with suggestions of what tools would be good to use to make the data more presentable which is quite cool.

So far, both of the programs have been interesting to start learning about, so we will have to see which one would end up being the preferable one to work with :)
