From 'Buy Now' to 'Bye, Now' - The Last Dashboard of our Training Phase

All of a sudden, our four months of training ended so quickly. Friday marked the conclusion of Dashboard Week and also our final day before placements.

We couldn't get through a lot of personal project time in the last few weeks because our schedules were consistently packed from morning till evening. So, with the final dashboard, we had the freedom to choose what we wanted to work on.

I opted for a dashboard chronicling my Amazon order history from 2005 to 2022. Amazon easily lets you request your data. You can find it in your account and privacy settings:

I had this data since the end of 2022. Since then I wanted to build a dashboard with it for my portfolio, but I lacked the data prep skills and program licenses. Attempting to prepare all the data in Google Sheets took me forever, especially with the task of tagging categories, etc.
Another significant challenge of this dashboard was the privacy issues. The data contains all the addresses I ordered packages to over the years and a detailed description of every product. Anonymizing all my addresses and assigning aliases was important to me.

I haven't had the time yet to anonymize all the product names I wish to keep private. Nevertheless, I incorporated some engaging parameter and sheet-swapping actions that will be fun for users to try out once everything is published.

I can't share the link to version 1 of the dashboard yet, still need to make the data a bit more private. However, you can get an idea of the dashboard (and the money I spent on Amazon 😉) by looking at the screenshot.
