Approaching #MOM in the most efficient way

Every week Andy posts a new Make over Monday (#MOM), and every week instead of approaching the challenge in the most effective ant time efficient way I jump straight into the data and start dragging fields onto the canvas in hopes something will look useful and nice.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this but this method is very chaotic and definitely not the best way around these challenges. This way of doing it also diminishes the amount learned from doing this as you just stumble across and end product instead of planning in, which is why I am writing this blog to remind myself of the steps to take each  when approaching Make over Mondays:

1)Look at the topic in question

2) think of the questions you might want to answer about that data

3)Create a user story

4)Think of the best chart and graph types to answer this question

5) Sketch it out

6)Build it!
