Another blog I had written but did not post swiftly enough:
I want to use this blog entry to set 5 goals I would like to achieve by the end of training. Rather than make some outlandish goals I have no interest in fulfilling, I am going to eschew my politics background and aim to set some realistic goals that will help keep me accountable.
1. 30 blog posts
I wanted to put 20 in here for the sense of achievability (I’d be 10% there already!) but I definitely want to challenge myself in this area as I think it is one of the areas I was most uncomfortable with when accepting the job and thus I am inclined not to opt for the easy way out.
2. 30 Alteryx Challenges
Perhaps unjustifiably buoyed by my experience on my first day taking on challenge #357 I want to complete 29 more of these challenges. This should be fairly manageable not much to add here but I think perhaps I should introduce a forfeit to this one to make sure I don’t slack.
Editors Note: Robbin our head coach mentioned that getting on the 30 day rolling leader board for challenges was “easy” so I have committed to getting on there. I have already completed 35 challenges and blown past my initial goal: I think hopefully if/(when) I reach the rolling leader board I might blog about a few of the things I learnt.
3. Answer a Convo query
It is still early days so I am not sure if this one will be routine or a real challenge so the mystery motivated me to set it at 1 but any extra would certainly be a bonus. This one strikes me as a product of circumstance. At the very least it’s a reason to monitor Convo fairly closely for a potential tap-in.
4. Make a Viz utilizing R integration in Tableau
I wanted a Tableau challenge and during my application viz I came across an article that mentioned this was possible. I couldn’t find the sections of Tableau that the article mentioned in Tableau Public so am hoping with the full license I can familiarize myself with the tools referred to and incorporate them into a viz.
5. Try and develop a workflow that scrapes a website weekly and updates a dataset
Another mystery ticket item I really don’t know whether is achievable but its an area I have an interest in and rounds out the goals to incorporate in data collection and storage.
