Tobias Colmer

Tobias joined The Data School after training in Theatre and Performing Arts after Covid halted a performance of Aya No Tsuzumi touring Japan. He successfully pivoted into a world of data, utilising his skills of communication and presentation in a data-based landscape.

With over five years of experience in performance and communication, Tobias has managed and directed small to medium sized teams, managed productions (projects), and communicated with theatres all over the world. His diverse skillset ranging from his theatrical background to his skills in data from numerous courses over the pandemic to The Data School have enabled him to assist clients in communicative and technical issues alike. Additionally, he holds a First Class degree in Theatre Performance from Falmouth University.

During his recent placement, Tobias played a key part in delivering impactful 2-day training sessions on Alteryx and Power BI, redesigning training materials to better engage participants and actively contributing to the success of a Microsoft migration project. His work led to more efficient processes, scalable workflows, and long-lasting improvements in data solutions.

Additional Highlights

Tobias created visualisations for the UKSI’s Badminton team to support their training in PowerBI, comparing the results of prior athletes physical tests in combination with their badminton results. He also used Tableau to create a dashboard for Lloyd’s to track the technical training courses that had been completed & what they’d be most likely to use after each subsequent training. Tobias also lead a team of seven to create enablement content internally for The Information Lab, utilising his skills in managing a team to create content that helps to enable in data visualisation & manipulation skills
