Megan Coutts

Megan joined the Data School as a recent graduate from the University of Portsmouth, where she gained an undergraduate degree in Criminology and Forensic Science, and a Master’s degree in Cybercrime and Intelligence.

Although data analysis was a fairly important part of her undergraduate degree, Megan’s interest in data was instigated through the completion of her Master’s dissertation, in which she critically analysed the UK government’s legislative approach to combating online child sexual exploitation and abuse, utilising data sets to aid in determining the governments legislative priorities. With a background in graphic design also, Tableau’s smooth visual interface and creative applications really jumped out to Megan and solidified her interest in data visualisation, and the Information Lab as a whole.

Outside of work Megan usually spends her time going out for cocktails with her mates, and also loves to play sports (especially football) and channel her creative side through drawing and logo design.
