Mary-Leena Tchenkoue

Mary-Leena has a background in Theoretical Physics and completed her PhD in 2021. During her doctoral research she did a lot of computations and simulations of atomic systems through which she developed her interest for data analysis. Making sense out of numbers and data then became a passion, so she decided to join the Data School.

Since joining The Data School, she has obtained the Alteryx Designer Core and the Tableau Desktop Certified Data Analyst Certificate. During her first placement with an energy provider she contributed in developing and improving Tableau dashboards for the Sales and Marketing team. She also used Alteryx extensively to create workflows for data preparation.

Outside of work, Mary-Leena enjoys travelling, singing, swimming and board games.

Word Cloud in Tableau
Today we had to work with data of Elon Musk's tweets and one interesting chart that came to my mind was doing a word cloud of his most tweeted words. You need to have a column containing these tweets; this was also in the dataset. First you need to do some little cleaning which I did in alteryx

Dynamic Top N Filter
One of the common charts for visualisation are Top N charts, for exmaple, top 10 Products by sales or profit. Top N filters can be created by putting the dimension on the filter card and using the 'TOP' pane in the filter configuration pop up

Compare to a Selected Dimemsion
It is possible to use quick table calculations to display the difference or change in a quantity, e.g Sales, along a given axis. These table calculations can also be configured to compare to either the FIRST, LAST, NEXT or PREVIOUS point on the given axis

Re-create Tableau's Average line using LOD and Table Calculation
The analytics pane in Tableau allows to quickly create an average line by simple drag and drop. However, it is not possible to make calculations with this average line because Tableau does not allow it to be saved in the data pane
