Kieran Lyddon

Kieran first developed an interest in data analytics during his Master’s degree in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Southampton, teasing insights from experimental results.

During his studies he found that, while analyses could be drawn, making them clear, concise, and actionable was an entirely different matter. This drew his attention towards visualisation, exploring reporting using Microsoft Power BI alongside other data tools like SQL and Python once graduated and seeking entry into the commercial world.

Hearing about the opportunities on offer at The Data School, he took up Tableau and has since become certified in both it and Power BI alongside an Advanced certification in Alteryx for data preparation.

In addition to qualifications he has developed a balance of technical skill and commercial understanding, being commended by colleagues at a previous client for an ability to clearly communicate business requirements to data teams and data requirements to business teams.

Over 18 months of placement by The Data School, he has:
- Upskilled over 950 individuals in a mixture of Alteryx, Tableau, and Power BI and provided quick-fire support for all three tools.
- Built reporting dashboards in both Tableau and Power BI across a variety of sectors including Enterprise, Private Equity, Professional Services, and Local Government.
- Advised on best practice in collating and restructuring data sources and automating quarterly reviews into hourly updates.
