Kate is inspired to help people navigate complex systems. It is why she pursued degrees in international law and social science, supporting legal research and working in multiple countries. From the courthouse to the classroom, she found that the most impactful work required data.
First introduced to applied statistics as a graduate student in Chicago, Kate continued to explore data applications through General Assembly’s Data Science program. This enabled her to learn Python, SQL, and the foundations of machine learning. She practiced these skills as an analyst for non-profits and government agencies.
At The Information Lab, Kate empowers people across industries to maximize their tools and gain deeper insights from their data. During Data School training, Kate built an expertise in multiple areas of the data lifecycle by leveraging the expressiveness of Tableau and the efficiency of Alteryx. She is recognized for her positive attitude toward problem solving, quickly grasping context for advanced calculations and troubleshooting queries.
Certified in Tableau, Alteryx, and Power BI, Kate is curious about how different software solutions balance data and design best practices. Even outside of work, she enjoys testing out programs and ideas. She shares this journey on TIL’s blog and other online communities, like GitHub.
