James Charnley

James graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in Biological Sciences, following which he did a TEFL certification and taught English in China for eighteen months.

After being at the Data School for over a year, James has had the chance to gain experience with multiple clients. At his placement with PwC, he built upon his teaching background by upskilling hundreds of people in Alteryx, Tableau and PowerBI, and also hosted regular internal doctor sessions, helping to fix issues that arose in projects across multiple business units.

As an experienced Alteryx user, James has demonstrated to clients such as KPMG and BDO the power of Alteryx to translate their complex requirements into practical solutions. Continued practice building workflows that leverage complex tools such as macros, RegEx, and the predictive palette eventually gave him the skill set to sit and pass the Alteryx Designer Expert exam.

James looks forward to continuing to develop his skills, and is keen to dive deeper into technical topics such as SQL and Python.

In his free time, James likes keeping fit and doing puzzles, the latter of which eventually led to the completion of all 375+ of the Alteryx Weekly Challenges and the creation of his favourite project, a workflow that creates a crossword from scratch!
