Gerda graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Bath where she uncovered a new passion for the data. After graduating, she took a year off for a bit of travelling and worked in hospitality when she realised she needed to start finding something different. That is when she came across Tableau, which she enjoyed learning and then she came across the Data School and the rest is history.
During her time in Data School, she has worked on a variety of projects which helped her to enhance her Tableau and Alteryx skills even more. These projects included the likes of using financial data for Tableau visualisations or connecting to APIs in Alteryx (especially the Google APIs) and creating different apps to work with them.
For her first placement, she was consulting for Close Brothers using Tableau and Alteryx to deliver first-rate reports and analysis to help maintain and grow third party relationships and assisting in encouraging environmental sustainability around the industry.
For her second placement, she was consulting for Commonwealth Informatics using Tableau to maintain the Tableau products that they provide to different clients for pharmaceutical purposes. This included adding new features, troubleshooting different ideas and making sure that the performance does not decrease significantly.
Currently, she is consulting for Belron using Alteryx and Tableau in order to build and improve their tax modelling capabilities. This includes building the main model from scratch into Alteryx and then visualise that data in Tableau.
Gerda has achieved several qualifications - Tableau Data Analyst, Alteryx Designer Advanced, Alteryx Server Administrator and a couple more.
In her free time, she trains in swimming and she likes to play board games, read novels and watch some sports. She also loves to travel whenever she can find the time.
