Dashboard week final day: The end
Well the past four month ran by quickly, it was a lot of fun during the entire time. Since I started I did not feel as confident in my skills but the passion of head-coaches and people around in TIL helped me a lot to grow as a person and as an analyst

Accessibility - Universal Design Choices
When building charts some of the things we do not think about are accessibility requirements. The only one thing that is usually considered are the colour blindness tests. Therefore, when creating my dashboard I was considering these choices: * Labelling line directly

Parameter Actions
Parameter actions are a great way to dynamically update your views. Therefore, how do we build them out? To start this out we need to first build out a basic view to make it easier for us. Therefore we put Sales on columns, sub-category on rows, and sort them from highest to low

Year on Year (Level of detail expression)
As mentioned in my previous post, in order to show how a business is performing, it is good to do a year on year comparison. This allows for a quick overview to see if the values are increasing or decreasing

Year on Year table calculation
In order to show how ones business or anything is performing, it is good to do year on year comparisons. This way we have a large data span and see if the values are increasing or decreasing. So how do we do this? TABLE CALCULATION WAY: Table calcs are by default a lot easier to do

Row vs Column level security
Column and row level security are types of security which can be applied to your views. The difference between them is significant. As it ends up changing how data is aggregated/shown. For example (ex 1) if we have three different blue fields: Region, Category, Sub-Category

Alteryx: Time series analysis
Time series analysis is used to analyse specific data collected through time. In a nutshell it predicts the outcome of a variable when seasonality (i.e. time) has significant influence. It has to be evaluating consistent time intervals otherwise it skews the data and analysis

SQL Part 3: Electric JOINS
JOINS: When joining tables one needs to imagine how joins work in programs such as Tableau or Alteryx, the principle is the same e.g. imagine venn diagrams but you can't see them visually unlike in Tableau or Alteryx

SQL Part 2: Funky Scalar Function
Continuing from the previous post UPPER - Converts everything to capital, you can not use * to capitalize every column name as it will return an error (Ex. 1), therefore it is only possible to upper one column at a time

Creating dynamic symbols/indicators for KPI's
There's an easy way to create a dynamic symbol/indicator for KPI's which would change based on values. For example, if I wanted to show the difference (positive/negative) between two values (Year over Year sales). One could use symbols such as ▲▼ to show whether the sales grew or underperformed
