Today’s dashboard was on Survivor, which was what DSNY3 used in their final applications. I sure hope they aren’t judging us too hard!
We were given a combined dataset, and also the unjoined data, and we were permitted to simply use the first. Viewing the unjoined tables, I saw a few topics that interested me, and ultimately I focused on three C’s - castaways, confessionals, and challenges. I intended for this dashboard to be exploratory in nature, so I do wish I had gone more in depth and analytical (see Juliet’s dashboard).
Navigation page here. I found a Survivor font online and used it, but sadly it shows inconsistently on Tableau Public.
Here you can select an age bin on the left and see what states they come from on the right. I really love tile maps!
There’s MBTI personality data in the main dataset, and confessionals in the unjoined data, so I was curious about the personality types of people who do confessionals. While across all contestants they average 30 confessionals per castaway, introverts on average only do 25 confessionals (pictured here). Each slice of the MBTI pies can be selected with another, and even all 4, to see how many confessionals that might be for an MBTI type.
Lastly, I looked at the different challenges that appear in the show. I was interested in the win/loss percentages of each challenge type. However what I didn’t have time to consider was that each challenge can be of multiple types. The percentages display the % of all contestants who went through a specific challenge that won or lost it.
It’s over! I’m one of 8 sole survivors of DSNY2!
