Which is more efficient when discussing business intelligence and analytics, traditional vs modern methods? This is what I learnt about on my 2nd day at The Data school. It can be seen that traditional methods, which involve waterfall development, are outdated and often very inefficient and carries with it a limited range of flexibility and a long delivery time. On the other hand, the modern method, which is characterised by the more iterative agile development methodology is seen to bring about increased flexibility, faster delivery time and thereby increased client satisfaction.
Being allowed to formulate our own modern architectural diagram allowed us to further understand the intricate processes that go into business intelligence and analytics from the modern perspective; from the gathering of raw data to the final data visualisation. The process:
Raw data > Ingestion > Central storage > Prepared data > Trusted data > Visualised Data
Below is a modern architectural diagram I created based on the investment/banking industry, from the systems used to collect the raw data all the way to the software used to visualise the clean and processed data
