Dashboard Week Day 5 - Chain and Independent Restaurants in the United States

The last day of DS33's time in training is here. Where has the time gone? Today I have something fun in store for them.

They're going to use the same data set as the finalists for DS37. Let's see how they stack up against them, granted they have half a day versus 10 or so days for the finalists.

I want them to create a dashboard, thinking back to what they did for their final interviews. So not a boring old KPI dashboard; something snazzy. One caveat, don't publish it to Tableau Public until after the DS37 final interviews.

The project has lots of details about what they found and information about the data itself and how they collected it.

"Independent restaurants are important for placemaking, cultivating place identity, and creating local culture. We explored which (types of) locales have an independent food culture and which resemble McCities: foodscapes with chains."
