Dashboard Week Day 2: Content Delistings Due to Copyright

Onto day 2 we go and as we have DS19 final interviews today, this will be brief. Yesterday, the team did a great job finding insights in the data and that needs to continue today.

Copyright infringements are a massive problem on the internet. It feels like it’s constantly happening on Tableau Public since there are little to on controls. And given how many of us feel about that, I can’t imagine how people producing research papers, etc.

So far, Google has received over 4.4 billion copyright complaints and that’s the data the team will investigate today. How they approach the insights and analysis I will leave completely up to them. Obviously, it would be really, really dumb to try to download all of the data. Will someone do it anyway? We’ll see.

An overview of how to process works, some key figures and links to the data can be found on Google’s Transparency Report.
