Second day of official training with DS39!
We started off discussing the difference between 'traditional' and 'modern' analytic architecture. The main difference is that 'traditional' tends to follow a 'waterfall' development: where each stage must be fully completed before moving on. This is a structured approach, whereas the 'modern' architecture is more agile, allowing for continual adaption and development.
We then looked at a data pipeline and where certain software's/practices fit within it.
Finally, we had an hour to create a data pipeline for a company/service of our choice. I chose to do mine on NHS 111 calls, which currently uses Excel for the majority of their data collecting, analysing and recording. I thought about how this could be improved using different software such as Alteryx and Tableau.
