Containers

When starting my application for the data school we had to create a visualisation, and when it came to actually creating the dashboard I struggled throughout the application. This is because I was using floating panes instead of containers.

This week at the DS we have learnt about dashboarding and how to make a poignant dashboard that tells a story. With this we learnt that when reading a dashboard people either read in a Z shape or they will read in a reverse N shape with the most important information being in the top left, and the least important being bottom right.

Laying out a dashboard and having the layout convey the most important information in that order was very interesting to me. We also learnt that a good way to draw the eyes to these containers is to have them a slightly darker shade than the main dashboard behind it, as this will make it more obvious that this is where the viewer is meant to be looking.
