Today was the first day as a cohort that we got our teeth into Power BI Desktop. At the end of the day we were tasked with doing Makeover Monday (MOM) 2023 Week 19 in Power BI in 1.5 hours.
I took the approach of trying to see which MOM creator has analyzed the most data. The dashboard shows an overview of all the data used so far in MOM, and then goes onto break the data down by each individual. The conclusion is somewhat expected. The Answer is that Andy Kriebel has analyzed the most amount of data. The dashboard shows that Andy and Eva had done equal amounts of Makeover Mondays up until 2019. Since 2019 to 2023 Andy has ended up doing 69 more makeover Mondays than Eva as she stopped doing them in 2020. The bar filters to show number of cells used or the total sum of data files in kb. Again, Andy comes out on top.
It was really fun to swap tools and use Power BI for a Makeover Monday instead of Tableau. I am a really big fan of the way that it is so easy to switch between Power Bi Desktop and Power Query (using the transform data button shown above). During a 1.5 hours challenge its so useful being able to quickly shift into Power Query and transform data to be used in visualizations.
