Project Manager Diary - Days 2 and 3

After a morning of studying, the team cracked on with their specific areas of the project as appropriate. Fortunately by this point, we've all had a fair amount of experience of how to approach the client work and as such I have full confidence in the team knowing how to best achieve our goal. With that said, it's slightly difficult to be looking in from the outside and not being able to control my own section of the project, but I think it's important to not be overbearing and risk micro-managing, particularly given that this is our 8th project!

Towards the end of the day we had a catch-up call with the client where we were helped with some further explanation into what some of the fields were showing and as such how to best visualize each of these with the project goal in mind.

Thursday started off again with studies in the morning, so back to working on the project in the afternoon. By this point, the dashboards were really coming together, as well as my presentation, and with one final client call late in the afternoon everyone had their final round of changes to be made. On my end, there were a few different moving parts to be managed throughout the day such as actually scheduling the client call, as well as timing of the presentation itself to fit in with all of the clients who will be attending tomorrow. These are the kinds of things that sound fairly simple, however trying to coordinate everyone's calendars (both internal and external) ended up taking quite a bit of time and thought, but it seems now that one night away from the actual presentation that we are in a good position. The only thing left to do is the presentation itself!
