Day 2 & 3 have both been hectic days.
On both days, we as a cohort had "Learn What the Data School Learns", which is where we teach the public some of the things we’ve learnt during our training. This was difficult as it meant that a large amount of each day was spent focusing on this rather than the project. In addition, it meant that during our designated project time, some people had to teach.
Furthermore, this was the first time in a project where everyone was working from home. This was definitely a challenge as communication between the team was more difficult to coordinate. Regular video calls and catchups were absolutely necessary for me to gauge how the team were doing.
As such, progress on Day 2 was particularly slow, as we were still trying to understand the data fully. In addition, some of the things that we thought were resolved within the data was incorrect and definitely put things behind schedule.
Day 3 saw similar issues but I also had to handle that one member of the team had taken a half day. This was something I knew in advance so this was one of the things I had planned when allocating tasks at the start of the week.
Reflecting on these 2 days, I believe I did well to communicate with the team and we also continued to have daily catchup calls with the client which definitely helped to clarify misunderstandings. However as a team, we definitely felt the time crunch with having to teach the public and also balance project time and this would have a knock on effect to project time later in the week.
